Everything you need to know before getting in touch with West Heath Alpacas
We love hearing from people who are new to alpacas and are not quite sure what to expect. Here are the questions we get asked most often.
West Heath Alpaca FAQs
Can I bring children?
Yes, children are very welcome. Our alpacas are wonderfully patient and tend to be a big hit with younger visitors. We do ask that children are supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
Do you offer school trips and educational visits?
Yes. We are a fully CEVAS accredited farm, which means we meet the requirements for organised school visits. Sarah's background as a teacher and SENCo means she is very experienced at working with children of all ages and abilities. Visits can be tailored to specific curriculum topics.
Are alpacas safe to be around?
Yes, absolutely. Our alpacas have been raised with gentle handling from a very young age using the Camelidynamics method. They are calm, relaxed and very comfortable around people. All experiences are led by a trained handler who will be with you throughout.
Do you offer therapy and wellbeing visits?
Yes. We work with care homes, wellbeing groups and mental health organisations. If you are looking to arrange a therapy visit, please get in touch and we can discuss what would work best for your group.
Where are you based?
We are based in Pirbright, Surrey, and travel to locations across Surrey and Hampshire. We do not operate on-site visits at our own premises, so all experiences take place at your school, care home, venue or event.
What should we expect on the day of a visit?
Sarah will arrive at your location with two or three carefully selected alpacas. She will set up a safe, comfortable space and guide your group through the visit. Sessions are relaxed and informal, and can be tailored to the needs of your group. Just let us know if there is anything specific to be aware of when you book.
How do I book an alpaca experience?
Simply get in touch with West Heath Alpacas via our contact page or give us a call on 07812 077916. We will have a chat about what you are looking for and find a date that works.
